This is a nationally approved certificated mediation training that will also include an in-depth focus on sources of conflict, a systems approach and unitive triangling.

Description:  This is a certificated 40-hour mediation training, part of our Mediation Core Curriculum designed to teach you everything you need to know to start mediating, either professionally or for daily use and practice. We’ll focus on mediation, conflict transformation and resolution theory and skills, with an emphasis on fostering self-awareness to reduce personal reactivity, as well as reflection and active listening techniques to facilitate communication. The course emphasizes the following:

  • Understanding the Theory and Practice of Mediation, as Mediators
  • Self-Awareness Inventory and Development
  • Conflict Intervention Skills Necessary to Mediate
  • Communication Skills and Transformation “How-To’s”
  • Individual Feedback from Trainers, addressing Participants’ Specific Strengths and Areas for Improvement
  • Mastering and Understanding of Oneself as the Conflict Intervener
  • Understanding the Motivations of Personality in Conflict
  • Working with the Enneagram Personality Typology and Reducing Personal Reactivity
  • Working Effectively with Counsel and Other Representatives
  • Mastering the Skills of  the “little m” mediator for Everyday Conflict Management
  • Understanding the transformative mediation process and mediator’s role
  • Hands-on skills for conflict and conflict transformation how-to

What’s Included: A 40-hour certificated course held over a period of five consecutive days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), training manual and materials.

A certificate noting 40 hours of attendance will be provided at the end of training. It may be used to apply for state circuit court rosters of approved mediators and for continuing education credits from the participant’s accrediting institution.

This training is approved by and/or a certificate of successful completion of this training may be used to satisfy the requirements of the following:

  • The Maryland Circuit Courts
  • The United States government and all federal agency rosters
  • The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
  • The Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners
  • Most other states which have 20, 40 or 60 hour mediation training requirements.

Cancellation Policy: Participants may cancel their registration at least 15 business days prior to the start date of the training to be entitled to a full refund. Cancellations received 7 business days prior to the start date of the training to be entitled to a 50% refund. Cancellations received less than 7 business day prior to the start date will not be subject to any refund. This policy is due to the high level of customization each of our programs is subject to, based on the number of people that have registered and space limitations
