The session will feature a demonstration of a program (Trochd) that has been designed to serve as a platform for contract negotiation, mediation, and, for the National Mediation Board, for submissions-only arbitration. The presenters will discuss the need for platforms of this type, the difficulties of getting into/creating a market for ODR services, and the difficulties potential parties have in finding acceptable, trustworthy ODR services. The mediation, negotiation, and arbitration functions of the program, will be demonstrated.

Dr. Chris Draper is the Director of Product for Trochd, a cloud based negotiation management platform.  Trochd allows users to collaborate in siloed negotiation teams, share and agree to contract language in a section-by-section manner with the opposing negotiation team, and access a complete audit trail of all actions taken during the negotiation if required for arbitration or litigation.  Chris is responsible for identifying user needs, developing solutions, and overseeing implementation.

Chris has led development of the platform since 2011.  Chris is an engineer by training with over 14 years of experience designing, developing, and analyzing technical and procedural solutions for decreasing the operational risk associated with organizations that employ unconventional electromechanical systems for the aerospace, automotive, petrochemical, and facilities industries.  Trochd originated as a tool for reducing the administrative cost of collective bargaining in Iowa public schools, and quickly expanded to address the data risks associated with both contract development and enforcement.

Chris received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Glasgow in Glasgow, Scotland.
