HOW TO PROMOTE ODR IN AFRICA

During your webinar, I suggested that, considered that not many people in your country know what mediation (let alone online mediation) means, it would be better to show them a few videos of online mediation simulations using mobile devices.

>> Languages - Those simulations could be run not only in English, but also in Hausa,  Igbo and Yoruba - the three major languages spoken in your country.

>> Types of Cases - Online mediation works well not only for settling e-commerce (consumer v merchant) disputes, but also for resolving family or commercial cases. We could show, for example, how online mediation can be useful in cross-border disputes: with one company/seller in an English-speaking African country, and the other company/buyer in a French-speaking country.

If you are interested in those initiatives, please contact me through our website Virtual Mediation Lab, where you can also find examples of online mediation simulations that we have run in 9 different languages.
