Recent Organizational Ombuds Job Postings

In the past several days, the following jobs have been posted at the Ombuds Blog:
  • University of Pennsylvania is hiring an Associate Ombuds. Applicants should have at least a master's degree and 5-7 years of relevant experience. Higher education experience is preferred. The salary range appears to be $75,228-$142,934 per year.
  • Apollo Group (parent corporation of the University of Phoenix) is hiring an Associate Ombudsperson. Applicants should have five years of experience in a corporate or university setting dealing with highly confidential matters, or relevant work experience. Three years of mediation or counseling experience is preferred. The job is located in Phoenix and some travel is required. No salary info.
  • University of California Berkeley is hiring an Ombuds Manager to run the Staff Ombuds Office. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training, management skills, and expert knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation techniques. Experience as an Ombuds is preferred. The position pays $80,000-$112,150. Applications are due September 9.
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency is hiring multiple people for its ADR Cadre (work that is very similar to that of Organizational Ombuds). The positions are deployed to FEMA disaster field offices and provide workplace conflict resolution. Applicants should have substantial experience in mediation, facilitation, and the delivery of conflict resolution training. The work is intermittent and on-call, requiring the ability to travel for 30 consecutive days or more at a time. The positions pay an annual salary of $73,773-$87,728 and applications are due September 14, 2010.
