ABA Creates Task Force to Consider Internal Dispute Resolution Program

The American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution has created an Ombuds Task Force "to explore the feasibility of offering ombuds services as an ABA Member Benefit." Bennett Feigenbaum and Peter Scarpato have been appointed to co-chair the group, but other members have not been identified.  One of their first tasks will be developing a mission statement and an action plan.

Feigenbaum and Scarpato are both neutrals with Executive Mediator Services, a company that also offers Ombuds consulting and services. Feigenbaum is President and Chief Administrative Officer of the company. (ABA Ombuds Task Force; Executive Mediator Services.)

Tom,

What's your opinion on this?  Will there be consolation/collaboration with the IOA?

I expect so.  There are several IOA members on the task force.  It would be a progressive move for the ABA. I yet don't have a sense of how much it might be used by members.
