Jeff asked me to post a question this week for our discussion of "The Tipping Point" So here goes nothing!
"The Band-Aid is an inexpensive, convenient, and remarkably versatile solution to an astonishing array of problems." (pg. 256)
I remember as a kid that whenever I hurt myself, scraped myself, burned myself (etc.) my mom would always put a Band-Aid on for me. I would cry until she would put it on, and then when the Band-Aid was on it was like the pain was gone. It was like a miracle worker.
I think we tend not to think of mediation as a Band-Aid solution. We are trying to give people, not just a quick fix, but a permanent solution to their problem. However, we also conduct our mediations in a timely, cost-efficient way, to produce a solution that offers a quick remedy to the problem.
Question 1: What does the Band-Aid solution mean to you? How can we apply this to our clients?
Question 2: How can we reframe the way we think about our work to make it more sticky? (pg. 257)
