Werner Institute to host the 5th AALS Works-in-Progress Conference

On November 3-5 the Werner Institute will host the annual WIP conference. This is a tradition started four years ago at the American Association for Law Schools, aimed at developing a community amongst Law Schools’ Professors who are teaching ADR related courses. The conference brings together Law Schools’ affiliated ADR scholars from all over the country to share their current research, exchange ideas, receive feedback, and engage in a dialogue that assists them in their current research projects. Arthur Pearlstein and Ran Kuttner from the Werner Institute presented at the first WIP conference at Marquette University four years ago and Ran also presented last year at Oregon University. They report that the friendly environment has helped them get constructive feedback on their projects and to build relationships with other scholars.

From the registration thus far it appears that some prominent scholars in the ADR field will attend the conference and some cutting-edge work will be presented. In addition, this year’s conference will include a session on writing and submitting manuscripts conducted by Werner’s own Bernie Mayer, a world-renowned writer whose books received distinguished awards and vast recognition.  The Werner Institute is proud to follow the footsteps of Marquette, Arizona State, Harvard and Oregon State and is working on putting together what seems to be another promising event that will contribute to the ADR scholarship created at the Law Schools throughout the country.

The Werner Institute is still accepting late registration. It is possible to participate in the conference without presenting. There is no admission to the conference. For more details and for the downloadable registration form see http://www.creighton.edu/werner/2011WIPConference
