My name is Samantha Ho and I am interested in applying for the family court mediation coordinator position at NYSPCC. I have just completed my master's degree in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at the Werner Institute of Creighton Law School and am looking forward to utilizing my master's degree in the near future. I believe that with my master’s degree and my past experience, I will be able to succeed in this position.
As a graduate student, I have learned many skills and theories that have enabled me to become a successful family mediator. I have recently completed mediation training and received my certificate as a certified mediator in June. I have also logged in certification hours as a negotiator, advocator, facilitator and conflict coach. I am currently working as a conflict coach with Family Heartland Services, an organization located in Omaha, Nebraska that works with child abuse and neglect, domesticated violence, and family disputes. With my experience as a leader and my academic background, I believe that I would be an ideal candidate for this position.
The enclosed resume provides specific information about my academic background and activities in college. During my undergraduate career at Creighton University, I obtained a 3.8 GPA majoring in philosophy, and during my graduate career at the Werner Institute, I have obtained a GPA of 3.9. My academic career clearly illustrates that I am able to succeed and strive for excellence, and I believe that I can live up to those standards in this position as well. I have been a contributing member of my campus community and expect to bring the same commitment and high energy level to NYSPCC.
