Sea Change Simulations Demonstration

During Cyberweek, Sea Change Simulations will present version 0.9.9 of the USIP OSP - the world's only open source platform to allow anyone to quickly create, conduct, refine and share online training simulations. This tool has been used to prepare peacebuilders for dangerous assignments, and in the classroom to allow students to engage in, and to create simulations.

During the week a representative of Sea Change Simulations will be online nearly 100% of the time and will be available to answer questions and provide technical support to anyone testing the platform out. Participants will be able to work on authoring simulations and a small group who registers early will be able to participate in a game using the platform. In addition, just before the conerence begins, Sea Change Simulations will release the following:

  • Here are some videos describing the Sea Change Simulations application and some instructions for using it.

Feedback received during the conference will be incorporated into the 1.0 release of the software. This is a powerful opportunity for members of the community to help shape a tool that will become increasingly invaluable to them. The 1.0 release will be released shortly after the meeting along with a contest to design the best simulation to teach online negotiation. Details on the contest and on the next release will be provided during the event.

Skip - Some students in my class are hoping to explore the actual OpenSim environment. Will you be opening up access to a demo site like http://demo.opensimplatform.org/index.jsp for folks to explore this week?

Definitely!

During my presentation I'll discuss this, but basically all anyone will need to do is send me an email, and I will set them up.

Best,

Skip

Hi,

Thank you all for listening today!

Below are some links I mentioned:

Did I miss anything Bryan?

Best,

Skip

Above you will find the webinar Skip presented during Cyberweek. Simply click the video player and it will start streaming. You may continue the discussion by submitting comments and questions in the reply box.

Thank's Bryan!

BTW, I left out this very important link to our youtube channel:

These videos I mentioned are all pretty short, and I think they really let people know what the platform is about.

BTW, I do apologize for the pauses near the beginning of the web archive when I was finding out that when holding the control key down and clicking on a link lead to problems.

Bryan, I can edit out the long pauses if you think it would help.

I sent an email with the following subject line "Want to Play" to ClientServices@seachangesimulations.com.  I did not get a response yet.  What should I do?

Hi Ursula,

I wrote you back at 7:40 am this morning. Maybe my email to you went into a spam filter?

(I really hate the fact that email has become so undependable due to the need to filter out the garbage.)

My email said this:

Hi Ursula!

Great to hear from you. We should be able to kick off one with you in it this week.
