Research Assistant for its Policy Studies program (Kroc Institute)

The Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame (kroc.nd.edu) seeks a Research Assistant for its Policy Studies program.  The Policy Studies Research Assistant will work closely with the Director of Policy Studies at the Kroc Institute on research projects and organizing research and education events both at Notre Dame and elsewhere.

 

The Research Assistant will conduct research tasks on topics related to armed conflict, nonviolence, nuclear disarmament, and international policy and will draft research memos, edit and fact-check articles and other documents for publication, and manage documents. The Research Assistant may be called upon to oversee data collection and research activities by graduate research assistants and will work in coordination with Policy Studies faculty and the Sanctions and Security Research Program. The Research Assistant will assist the Director of Policy Studies in coordinating and scheduling meetings, speaking engagements, media interviews, and public appearances, often working in conjunction with travel agents and sponsoring agencies beyond campus. In addition, the Research Assistant will manage the Director of Policy Studies' professional website, as well as that of the Sanctions and Security Research Program.

 

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a BA degree in Political Science, Peace Studies, or a related field -- an MA is preferred. He or she must have demonstrated social science research and writing experience as well as a clear understanding of social science research methods. A successful applicant will possess excellent research and organizational skills and the ability to communicate well and work in coordination with researchers and support staff. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly WORD, Excel, and Powerpoint) is necessary, as is a working knowledge of WordPress.
