            The Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP) seeks an enthusiastic,multi-talented and self-directed staff-person to assist its Executive Director,Board of Directors and volunteers in accomplishing ALLMEP’s critical mission.  ALLMEP is the coalition of more than 75 non-governmentalorganizations that promote people-to-people cooperation, coexistence, andreconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians, Arabs and Jews in the MiddleEast.  ALLMEP raises awareness andincreases resources for these essential efforts.

            Operatingsince 2003 as an all-volunteer organization, ALLMEP has established itself inWashington, successfully advocated for millions of dollars in funding, andraised the profile of its members’ projects. This fall, ALLLMEP hired its first full-time Executive Director toestablish the organization’s professional operations, develop and launch newprogramming, and grow the organization. Reporting to the Executive Director,the Program Specialist will be responsible for a diverse array of bothadministrative and substantive responsibilities.  This is a role with multiple, synergisticopportunities:  the incumbent must beequally competent moving from bookkeeping to Capitol Hill advocacy; from Boardand volunteer support to assisting in fundraising efforts.  It is a unique position, offering involvementin all operations of this growing organization. The Program Specialist will provide:

§ Executive support,  including maintenance of financial data;scheduling; travel; routine correspondence; web-based filing; special projects,as assigned

§ Board and volunteer support, including coordination ofBoard and committee meetings; international member needs; contact listmaintenance

§ Event planning, including ALLMEP’s annual lobby days andrelated activities;  public and privateconferences; international meetings and events

§ Development support, including researching fundingopportunities; initial draft of appeals/grants

§ Outreach and advocacy support for ALLMEP’s legislativeagenda, including developing briefing papers, testimony, speeches, publicstatements for organization leaders; legislative alerts and updates formembers; and representing ALLMEP in appropriate contexts

§ Public awareness and media outreach campaign support,including developing collateral marketing materials and drafting e-newslettersand alerts

§ Technical support for ALLMEP’s online outreach throughsocial networking, expanding web site, and updating web content

 

Minimum Qualifications:

§ Bachelors degree; higher degree or equivalent experiencepreferred

§ 3-5 years relevant experience in non-profitadministration, fundraising, public relations and/or advocacy

§ Excellent oral andwritten communications and research skills

§ Proficient and independent computer user (includingMicrosoft Office and knowledge or quick learner of new technologies, such associal networking, donor management/CRM/Salesforce, sending email newsletters,and updating web sites)

§ Passion for Middle East peace and the transformativepower of citizen diplomacy (preferred)

 

Compensation and benefits:

Salary commensurate with experience, not toexceed $40,000/annum.  Promotionpotential and accelerated salary increases possible pending organizationalgrowth and candidate’s job performance and prior experience.  Health and 401k benefits available.
