North Georgia College & State University is currently accepting applications for a University Ombudsman. The Ombudsman’s primary duties include providing faculty and staff with an informal and confidential means for discussing and addressing issues without fear of reprisal. The University Ombudsman is neutral and does not advocate for either party in a disagreement, but promotes a fair and respectful workplace for all parties. The Ombudsman is trained to listen and to provide counsel in identifying options and clarifications of University policy or procedures. The Ombudsman analyzes issues, investigates processes, and makes referrals or recommendations for changes in policy where appropriate. Reporting directly to the President, the Ombudsman is a neutral, confidential and informal resource for faculty and staff, independent of any University administrative structure. The Ombudsman works autonomously, impartially, and informally to seek resolution of issues and concerns. Start date: May 1 preferred, but negotiable.
Job Duties
Job duties include, but are not limited to: - Meeting with faculty and/or staff members to discuss and address issues. Providing counsel in identifying options and clarifications of University policy or procedures. Analyzing issues, investigating processes, and making referrals or recommendations for changes in policy where appropriate. - Attending University System Ombudsman meetings - Identifying a mechanism to ensure appropriate availability to faculty/staff when issues arise across the calendar year. - Identifying and maintaining a mechanism to ensure the visibility and availability of services provided.
Qualifications
Qualifications for University Ombudsman: - Current full-time member of the North Georgia faculty or professional staff or status as a retired member of the North Georgia faculty - Completion of Ombudsman 101 training prior to the beginning of the appointment (Expenses for completion of training will be provided.) - Ability to work autonomously, impartially, and informally to seek resolutions to issues and concerns. - Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills To apply for this position: Applicants may apply via US Mail or online by clicking here.
