Job Posting: MBB Operations Director Summary of Position The Operations
Director (OD) is responsible for assisting the Executive Director (ED)
in all aspects of MBB's administration. Specific duties include, among
others, membership; university chapters; intern and volunteer
coordination; and technology, all of which involve working closely with
the appropriate Board standing committee. Currently, the MBB staff
includes the ED in New Haven CT; the OD in Ventura CA; and the Office
Manager (OM) and part-time Communications Design Consultant (CDC) in
Pittsburgh PA.
Caveat The MBB Board is exploring whether to
outsource the OM and CDC functions, as well as the OD functions, to an
Association Management Company (AMC) (cf. ACR's recent outsourcing of
their entire staff to an AMC in Reston VA). Nevertheless, MBB is posting
this position now, because the current OD Jim Lingl is leaving this
position in Dec. 2010/Jan. 2011, and we would like to be prepared to
fill this position upon his departure, if the outsourcing does not
occur.
Position Requirements
Candidates should be able to work independently with supervision and task prioritizing by ED and Board members in other parts of the
country/world.
Candidates should have excellent computer and technology skills, and be detail-oriented and self-directed.
Position will involve some supervision of student interns, other volunteers and support staff.
20-25 hours per week.
Initial term of employment: February 1 - December 31, 2011.
