GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
The Mediation Coordinator is responsible for (1) the intake, scheduling, case management and monitoring of all mediations; (2) volunteer coordination; and (3) outreach to potential referral sources. The Mediation Coordinator reports to the Program Director.
HOURS
40 hours per week: Monday-Friday.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Mediation Intake and Case Management
- Conduct intake interviews with individuals who request mediation services
- Schedule all mediations, conflict coaching, multi-party mediations and Victim-Offender Conferences
- Assign mediators, coaches and facilitators
- Debrief with participants and mediator(s)
- Follow-up with mediation participants two-four weeks after the last mediation session
- Maintain statistics and prepare quarterly reports compiling those statistics for the period covered
Mediation Outreach
- Present Mediation Orientations to community groups to stimulate interest in mediating
- Participate in community events to publicize the availability of mediation
Volunteer Coordination
- Participate in the Basic Mediation, Conflict Coaching and VOC trainings to the extent assigned by the lead trainer (e.g., role-play coaching and presenting the section on intake and case management) to get to know the new volunteer mediators with whom you will be working.
- Maintain current contact information for all volunteer mediators (VOC, FPI, Elder, Community, Coaches), including number of volunteer hours for the annual audit. Ensure that they are meeting the minimum requirements to remain on the GSMP roster according to the GSMP Standards of Conduct for Mediators.
- Schedule quarterly Volunteer Gatherings and Book Club meetings designed to provide continuing education, networking and recognition opportunities.
- Maintain child abuse and criminal clearances on all volunteers.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Program Director and Executive Director
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Successful completion of Basic Mediation and Restorative Practices workshops
- Attend relevant continuing education opportunities, conferences and meetings in the areas of office administration, customer service, client communications, and conflict resolution
QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree preferred
- Previous experience in conflict resolution, mediation and/or restorative justice preferred
- Expertise with Microsoft Office & Excel
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to work as a team member and manage conflict constructively
- Enthusiasm for the mediation process and loyalty to the goals and objectives of GSMP
- Patience and a positive attitude in the midst of chaos
