We are seeking:

 

1)      A Project/Program manager in the DC area who has ADR, land use planning and experience with large transportation projects.  We are looking for a senior level professional with consulting experience who has worked on behalf of social sustainability.  The person should be local to the metro DC area however they will be able to work remotely. 

2)      A Project Manager with development and planning experience to be responsible for the external outreach element of the zoning revision process of a PG county zoning contract.  A person with strong ties in PG County would be ideal.    This opportunity also requires a record of working on behalf of sustainability and ADR experience

Senior Associate

 

The Senior Associate will play a lead role in managing multiple program and/or projects varying in size and complexity in   land use development, public policy and organizational development (e.g., transportation planning, master and neighborhood  planning,  zoning, construction management, etc) .. The successful candidate will utilize alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques to prevent or resolve  conflict  among government officials, community organizations, residents and other key stakeholders in the interest of achieving sustainable community development, environmental justice, smart growth, etc..  The Senior Associate will model the core values of Justice and Sustainability Associates and be passionate in the desire to not only promote and reach sustainable agreements concerning land use but agreements that are just for all entities involved.

 

To be successful in this role you must be able to:

 

  • Effectively design, manage, document and evaluate processes  that positively engage a diverse range of stakeholders (i.e.  government agencies, policy makers  and residents) for the purpose of reaching or strengthening agreement

 

  • Manage civic engagement projects, organizational development projects policy dialogues, mediations, negotiations, and strategy development projects 

 

  • Convene assessments, design and deliver collaborative processes, plan and facilitate processes, help participants develop agreements , and  implement projects.

 

Project/Program Management

 

  • Provides overall project management and strategic direction across a portfolio of projects.
  • Interfaces with clients and key stakeholders as required.
  • Assigns individual responsibility and identifies the appropriate resources as needed to ensure timely completion of the project
  • Manages financial aspects of the project against assigned budgets
  • Develops project plans and provides regular updates to the senior management team
  • Manages mentors, motivates and inspires junior staff with the goal of advancing them to the next level of the career path.

 

Business Development

 

  • Participates in JSA business development activities and practices that  identify emerging markets and clients within JSA’s core practice areas
  • Develops and sustains client relationships and industry connections
  • Writes proposals and conducts and leads other business development activities

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

 

  • Requires 10+ years of experience and a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques and practices.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, land use mediation and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning and policy, housing and community development, economic and environmental impact analysis; and community engagement and outreach.

 

Required skills:

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Strong oral communication and group facilitation skills
  • High proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with (or willing to learn) Google platforms (i.e. Gmail, Insightly, Google Hangouts, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused manner.
  • Committed to working in alignment with the values of JSA.
