JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the election of new Chairman of the Board, Bruce A. Edwards, Esq. Mr. Edwards replaces outgoing Chairman Richard Chernick, Esq., vice president and managing director of JAMS’ Arbitration Practice. Mr. Edwards was elected at the Annual JAMS Owners Meeting and Board Meeting, which was held April 28-30, 2011 in Colorado.
In addition, Hon. William J. Cahill (Ret.), Kenneth C. Gibbs, Esq. and R. Wayne Thorpe, Esq. were elected as new JAMS Board Members. Mr. Edwards and Hon. Edward A. Infante (Ret.) were re-elected to second terms.
“Bruce is highly respected within the field of ADR and brings tremendous knowledge and expertise to the Board,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “Bruce’s experience, both domestic and abroad, will be especially important as JAMS continues to grow in the US and make inroads with JAMS International in the EU over the coming months and years.”

Mr. Edwards is a founding member of JAMS and is one of JAMS’ most experienced attorney mediators. He has served as a mediator, arbitrator, and special master since 1986. During that time, he has developed extensive expertise in handling complex, multi-party cases with emphasis on construction, business, employment, and traumatic personal injury matters. He frequently writes and teaches about the benefits of ADR throughout the United States, Europe, Indonesia and the Middle East. During his tenure as chairman of the board, he will continue to be a full-time neutral.
