POSITION
Director of the Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies, and faculty
member. (Faculty at Fresno Pacific University are unranked.)
ROLE
Serve as Director of the Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies;
Be the public face of the Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies:
speaking, consulting and presenting in the community;
Teach in graduate, undergraduate and/or degree completion programs as
needed; teach courses such as Introduction to Alternative Dispute Resolution
(online), Restorative Justice, Group Dynamics, Mediation, and Internship;
Contribute to university and community-related CPACS activities and
services;
Participate in scholarly, departmental and university activities.
OPPORTUNITY
The founding director of CPACS is retiring. CPACS faculty administer a wide
and growing range of projects, both grant-funded and contracted services,
including the campus restorative discipline program. It is presumed that the
successful candidate will have a period of time to become accustomed to
CPACS, the community and the teaching load before assuming full
responsibility for the Director role. CPACS has a full-time administrator
who works with the Director. There is no internal candidate for this
position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of
Christ-centered teaching and learning;
Doctorate in a field related to peacemaking and conflict studies from an
accredited institution;
Demonstrated ability to provide collaborative leadership for an
organization;
Experience in conflict resolution and peacemaking;
Understanding of issues pertaining to peacemaking, conflict resolution,
restorative justice and the Christian faith compatible with the Center for
Peacemaking and Conflict Studies;
Desire to prepare students for positions where they can exercise leadership
which reflects the goals of the program;
Experience in, or aptitude for, college-level teaching;
Ability to work with students, staff and faculty in a collegial environment;
Evidence of involvement in a church and the larger Christian community.
Desired:
Demonstrated college-level teaching ability and university program
administration experience;
Demonstrated success in grant writing and administration;
Evidence of scholarly contributions to criminology, victimology, restorative
justice, peacemaking, conflict studies or related fields;
Experience in mediation and victim-offender dialogue;
Theological education;
Experience living and working outside the United States;
Facility in one of the languages, other than English, spoken in the Fresno
area;
Active involvement in a historic peace church.

COMPENSATION
Dependent on qualifications and experience, and paid out over 12 months.
