Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies and Deputy Director (Confirmation Path)

 

NATIONAL CENTRE FOR PEACE AND CONFLICT STUDIES

 

We are seeking applications for the above position from a suitably qualified and experienced researcher. The appointment may be at Senior Lecturer level or at Associate Professor level depending on research expertise and experience in the field of Peace and Conflict Studies.

 

The National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies offers three postgraduate qualifications: the Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and PhD. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to taught programmes, supervise students, and, as Deputy Director, be responsible for coordinating the Centre Research, PhD admissions and the postgraduate curriculum.

 

The National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies is a Postgraduate theory, research and practice Centre within the Division of Humanities at the University of Otago. There are three other academic staff in the Centre. The Centre is dedicated to the enhancement of educational practice through high quality teaching, scholarship, research, professional leadership and community service.

 

The appointee will report directly to the Centre Director, and will have a close working relationship with other Centre staff. Candidates must have a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies or a cognate field and should have demonstrable teaching, research and practice capacities at advanced career level. Research and teaching expertise in conflict analysis and conflict resolution with a regional focus on the Asia-Pacific region is desirable.
