Dance4Peace Part-Time Program Facilitator, Washington DC, Fall 2010 Semester

Who are we? Dance4Peace (http://www.dance4peace.org) is an innovative, global curriculum that uses dance to inspire youth to be leaders and peacemakers in their communities.

 

What is our vision? Our vision is a culture of peace, tolerance, and engagement in youth around the world.

 

How are we achieving this vision? By expressing emotions, thoughts, experiences and reflections through movement, youth are able to engage in a curriculum that promotes a culture of tolerance, mediation, and anger management. Participants in the Dance4Peace program are empowered to be more confident and serve as change-agents within their schools and neighborhoods. The Dance4Peace curriculum transcends countries, socioeconomic differences, and varying languages and cultures; it is being adapted and implemented in diverse communities and in unique contexts.

 

Responsibilities for Part-time Facilitator in Washington, DC:

·         Participate in two day training on Dance4Peace curriculum and implementation best practices in D.C. September 11 and 12, 2010

·         Implement and evaluate 10 weekly Dance4Peace sessions (one hour each, 4:45-5:45 pm at various DC school locations)

·         Compile, maintain and report program evaluation information on a weekly basis to assess strengths and areas for improvement

Qualifications:

  • Education, child or youth development background
  • Local student in the field pursuing a BA or advanced degree
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience facilitating trainings and workshops and implementing activities
  • Understanding of inclusion and ability to translate inclusion in a variety of modalities and types of audiences
  • Desire to work on issues related to underserved communities
