Duties And Responsibilities & Minimum Requirements: The primary responsibility of the MA Coordinator position is to assist with the management, promotion and supervision of the M.A. in Democracy and Governance Program and the fiscal management of the M.A. in Conflict Resolution Program. This position also supports the Director and Associate Director of the M.A. in Democracy and Governance Program. The MA Coordinator will be the primary point of coordination, liaison and communication between the Democracy and Governance MA program and the Department of Government. Responsibilities specific to the administration of the MA program include:
  • providing the main point of student contact;
  • coordinating internships and job placement services for students;
  • promoting the M.A. in Democracy & Governance program throughout the year;
  • coordinating events, workshops and summer programs;
  • assisting with fellowships, grants and development;
  • developing program partnershis and outreach;
  • overseeing student and faculty recruitment;
  • overall management of the M.A. in Democracy and Governance program;
  • and fiscal administration of both the Democracy and Governance M.A. and Conflict Resolution M.A. programs.

Responsibilities relative to the Department of Government will be to work with the Graduate & MA Program Officer, the Director of Graduate Studies and the Department Administrator in monitoring the academic progress and other processes related to the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, as well as the fiscal management of both MA programs.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years experience in a professional environment. This position requires high professionalism; ability to initiate projects; maturity; good judgment; strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills. Significant experience with Access databases, Web Content Management Systems, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and aptitude in data entry and using computer and University systems (SIS+ and Apply Yourself). Experience with student advising in an academic or professional environment preferred.
