About Patricia Powis:

Patricia devotes her practice to facilitating clients' successful navigation through life's transitions by concentrating on Estate, Adult Guardianship and Family Law.

Originally trained as a Social Worker, her law practice emphasizes the use of Mediation and Collaboration over litigation.

A lifelong resident of Queens, Patricia earned a BS in Human Services from St. John's University then worked in Ozanam Hall of Queens. She left to raise her family and later earned a JD from City University of New York School of Law.

Patricia serves as a New York State Court Appointed Article 81 Guardian for persons in need of a guardian. She is an Arbitrator on the NYS Court System Fee Dispute Resolution Program.  

She is a member of the New York State and Connecticut Bar Associations, and is active in the NYSBA Dispute Resolution Section, and Mediation and Collaborative Law Committees. She is a member of the NYSBA Elder Law Section, the New York State Counsel on Divorce Mediation as well as IACP, the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.  

Locally, she serves of the Board of Directors of the Center for Woman of New York which is presently housed in Queens Borough Hall. Patricia offers legal workshops as well as pro-bono services to the CWNY legal clinic.
