Good news for the ACR Annual Conference in the aftermath of Hurricane Issac. We have confirmed with the Sheraton New Orleans conference hotel that the property is open and operating with no damage.
Information we have from the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau is that the main city area, including the French Quarter, where the conference will be held is not flooded. The area is protected by the new levee system and was not subjected to the flooding that some outlying areas are experiencing.
The conference will take place as scheduled and as expected. The Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans remains closed at this hour and it is anticipated that operations will resume soon. It is expected to be functioning normally in a few days, well in advance of the beginning of the conference.
Please contact conferences@ACRnet.org or 703-234-4141 if you have any questions or follow ACR on Twitter #ACR12. We look forward to seeing you in New Orleans. If you have not yet registered, I hope you will do so and join us for a wonderful conference in an extraordinary place.
