Performing Under Pressure: Embody the Calm in the Midst of the Storm

Conflict resolvers are told to "become the calm in the midst of the storm" as we enter situations most would choose to avoid. Many conflict resolution trainings leave us with this advice, but without the practical skills to implement it.  Join Stephen as we address this skill in conflict resolution through the use of specific techniques focused on breath, posture, vision and the cultivation of self-awareness that will dramatically improve your performance under pressure.

About the presenter:

Stephen Kotev is a Washington D.C. based conflict resolution consultant offering mediation, negotiation, conflict analysis, facilitation, training and somatic education to private and government clients. He holds a Master of Science degree from George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and a black belt in the Japanese martial art of Aikido. He is a former employee of the Association for Conflict Resolution, the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution, the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Resolution and the D.C. Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency as an ADR Specialist. He is also adjunct faculty at George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution in Fairfax, Virginia.
