Presenter: Marvin E. Johnson is a nationally recognized mediator, arbitrator, and trainer with nearly 40 years of dispute resolution experience. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution, an internationally recognized ADR entity, which provides dispute resolution education and training to culturally diverse audiences.  He has mediated and arbitrated thousands of cases in for-profit and not-for-profit corporations, federal and state agencies, and local government entities with dealings in numerous sectors.  Marvin is a long-time champion for diversity and equity in the dispute resolution field and has been instrumental in developing and leading ACR’s efforts in these and other areas. Among his many honors, Marvin is a past recipient of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Robert M. Bell Award for Leadership in Dispute Resolution.

Moderator: Lou Gieszl is a past-president of ACR and currently serves as the Diversity and Equity 

Officer of the ACR Board of Directors.  He is the Deputy Executive Director of the Maryland Judiciary’sMediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO), a statewide resource for conflict resolution programs and mediator excellence. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore’s Master’s Degree Program on Negotiations and Conflict Management.  He is on the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation, the world’s premier center for advancement, practice and study of mediation in the transformative framework. Lou serves as a mediator and facilitator in community, government and court settings. Lou is a Ph.D. Candidate at UMBC An Honors University in Maryland, where he's preparing a dissertation about the U.S. Postal Service's REDRESS mediation program.
